It took Paul Johnson six years to complete Alien: Monday. I admit; I saw ‘Monday’ first and thought of Tuesday Knight Games’ Mothership.
I was wrong. This is an Alien homage, and the timing checks out. Free League just announced Alien RPG 2e, and Alien: Romulus is coming to the screen.
This 20-minute animation shows an engineer, voiced by Sara Secora, waking up on the ship to discover that something is wrong. The jury is out on how helpful the ship’s sci-fi, played by Philip Sacramento, is.

The Alien franchise
The Alien franchise, renowned for its blend of science fiction and horror, debuted in 1979 with Ridley Scott’s iconic film Alien. This groundbreaking film introduced audiences to the terrifying Xenomorph creature and its relentless pursuit of the crew of the Nostromo. Its success spawned a series of sequels, each with its own unique take on the Alien mythos. James Cameron’s Aliens (1986) shifted the focus to action-packed combat against hordes of Xenomorphs, while David Fincher’s Alien 3 (1992) offered a darker, more introspective take on survival. Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Alien Resurrection (1997) explored cloning and genetic experimentation with mixed results.
The franchise expanded further with the Alien vs. Predator crossover films, pitting the Xenomorphs against the iconic Predators from another popular franchise. Ridley Scott returned to the series with the prequels Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017), delving into the origins of the Xenomorphs and humanity’s place in the universe.
Beyond films, the Alien franchise has also permeated other media, including novels, comic books, and video games. The enduring popularity of the series is a testament to its iconic creature design, suspenseful atmosphere, and thought-provoking themes, solidifying its place in cinematic history.
The Alien franchise shows no signs of slowing down, with an upcoming television series and a new film on the horizon. Its ability to evolve and adapt while remaining true to its core elements ensures that the Xenomorph’s reign of terror will continue to captivate and horrify audiences for future generations.
