Simian Circle Games isn’t afraid to call a new edition a new edition, and that’s what is happening for the 10th anniversary of Far Away Land.
The 2nd edit is a rules update that layers onto the lore of FAL. You’ll notice a colourful and even cartoon vibe, but Far Away Land isn’t a childish game. It’s dangerous, old school and sometimes terrifying. You can see progress on Kickstarter.
Far Away Land offers a charming blend of science fiction and fantasy elements, brought to life through quirky and visually striking artwork. This rules-lite RPG prioritises simplicity and accessibility, making it an excellent choice for new and young players.
Designed for fast-paced, immersive gameplay, Far Away Land encourages players to embark on thrilling adventures and explore a dynamic, unpredictable world. The game’s modular design allows experienced groups to customise their experience with optional rules while its core mechanics remain straightforward and intuitive, ensuring a focus on storytelling and fun.
The game engine only uses d6 dice pools from which you must find the high number.
Every character in Far Away Land has Boons which define their areas of expertise. This is a classless game that lets players create and evolve their character as they advance and as they see fit. So, if you want a character that is all about magic, sink XP upgrades into the Arcane Boon and learn new spells. Want a character that can fight with the best of them? Drop some XP into the Melee or Scuffle Boon. Want a thief? Focus on the Sneak and Subterfuge Boons.
Gamers can support this indie TTRPG by spreading the news and offering cash pledges. Simian Circle Games thanks $1 with access to some add-ons.
