Woah, it seems incredible that HalloweenCostumes has managed to land an exclusive partnership with Distortions Unlimited to create a limited number of masks from H.R. Giger’s original xenomorph mould. Surely these Aliens should be more expensive and rarer? Not that they’re cheap.
The companies admit the mask is meant for display, but you can wear it. If you do, it’s a one-size-fits-all adult mask almost a meter long. The mask also has eye holes to allow for some but limited vision. Equally, there is ear and nose ventilation.
Nevertheless, I’m certainly not going to wear such an expensive mask as a joke to the office Christmas party. If I were hosting a gathering and could put the mask away safely after I wore it for a bit, then, yeah, it would be darkly tempting.
The xenomorph mask is made from latex and vacuform and has that insect-like black sheen I remember from the movies.
Speaking of movies, “Alien: Romulus” is set to hit theatres soon, promising a fresh dose of suspense and Xenomorph mayhem.
This latest instalment takes place 20 years after the events of the original “Alien” film, slotting neatly between that iconic 1979 horror and its action-packed 1986 sequel, “Aliens.”
While the Xenomorphs remain a central threat, “Alien: Romulus” is poised to carve its unique path. The film will focus on a group of space colonists who stumble upon a derelict spaceship and face the horrifying consequences.
At the time of blogging, there’s only one mask left! I’ve been told that once it’s gone – it’s gone.
