I absolutely loved the animation and storytelling in Love, Death + Robots. Netflix rival Amazon Prime must have as well because they hired the studio Blur for Secret Level.
Which games will get episodes in Secret Level? Glad you asked, as here’s the list;
- Armored Core
- Concord
- Crossfire
- Dungeons & Dragons
- Exodus
- Honour of Kings
- Mega Man
- New World: Aeternum
- PAC-MAN
- PlayStation (Highlighting various PlayStation Studios beloved entities)
- Sifu
- Spelunky
- The Outer Worlds
- Unreal Tournament
- Warhammer 40,000
Most are computer games but those two tabletop games, D&D and Warhammer 40K, stand out. Mind you; both those two also have computer games. In fact, Games Workshop confirms it was Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, a computer game, responsible for their inclusion.
Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios, told the press;
Secret Level weaves a tapestry of iconic games across multiple mediums, to tell a series of unique and captivating stories. Created and led by Tim Miller, Blur Studio, and Supervising Director Dave Wilson, each episode will take our global Prime Video customers on a brand new journey with breathtaking animation and imaginative storytelling.”
Games Workshop noted that their Warhammer Studio partnered with Blur to ensure the tones and themes of Warhammer 40K were absolutely right. They added;
We’re pretty pumped to see Titus and the boys in animated action, and we won’t have to wait long.
“Love, Death + Robots” captured audiences’ attention through its anthology format, offering a diverse collection of short, animated stories that spanned genres like sci-fi, fantasy, and horror. Each episode showcased unique animation styles and thought-provoking themes, creating a binge-worthy experience that left viewers wanting more.
The show’s success was further amplified by its mature content and high-quality animation, distinguishing it from mainstream animation and attracting a dedicated adult fanbase. It feels like a format that Amazon will repeat for Secret Level.
Secret Level will air in December and likely require an Amazon Prime Video account.
