Quantum No.9 is due out from Time Bomb Comics and will include a comic book writing competition.
The two-year-old Quantum anthology series is a physical-only publication of genres like horror, western and mystery, joining fantasy and sci-fi.
Geek Native checked in with Time Bomb and discovered that this won’t be a paid-for competition but that authors will retain ownership of any new characters they create. The winners will get five free copies of their Quantum issue and a page of original artwork from the story.
However, full instructions on how to enter will be available in Quantum No.9. We know the basics; fans submit their ideas for stories set in one of the current Quantum worlds. The three universes are;
- WesterNoir,
- Major Rakhana,
- The Clockwork Cavalier.
The competition aims to reach new readers while giving potential writers a podium and a writing credit.
Time Bomb publisher Steve Tanner said:
Everyone has a story to tell, so Dave West and I are intrigued to see what story ideas Quantum readers can come up with featuring some of their comic’s most popular characters. And it’s the story idea that matters, not whether you’ve any previous experience of writing for comics.”
What’s going on in Quantum No.9? We’ve paraphrased Time Bomb’s summaries.
- Major Rakhana witnesses Sanjay’s brutal interrogation about her recent perilous Mars mission in this new instalment.
- In Memphis, political tensions reach a boiling point as the investigation into the murdered archaeologists spirals into chaos.
- In WesterNoir: Dead End, Cassidy desperately fights for survival as she confronts the horrors haunting a western border town.
- The Very Strange Reappearance of Peter Thomson takes a dark turn as Peter discovers his powers extend beyond human mimicry.
- The Clockwork Cavalier embarks on a new 18th-century crime-fighting adventure, joining forces with the Bow Street Runners!
