A rather enjoyable first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has just dropped via Paramount Pictures, and gives us our first look at Keanu Reeves (I mean, it’s his voice at least) as new villain, Shadow.
Got to say, I haven’t bothered to watch the first two Sonic the Hedgehog movies. I was greatly amused by the whole teeth debacle, and the team being forced to change the look of Sonic after the trailer was released for the first movie. Aside from that, I hadn’t been paying attention.
However, having watched this trailer, I’ve got to say, I’m impressed; I came for Keanu Reeves, and stayed for Jim Carrey being excellent in his role as Robotnik.
That’s right, it seems Sonic, Tails and Knuckles have bitten off a bit more than they can chew in this movie, and have to resort to really drastic measures – like drafting in the help of Sonic’s arch-nemesis. So, that’s a thing.
Ben Schwartz is back in the role of Sonic, starring alongside James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski, Lee Majdoub as Agent Stone, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Miles “Tails” Prower, and Idris Elba as Knuckles.

I personally mostly associate Reeves these days with the John Wick franchise – y’know, the assassin who gets through just about anything but still manages to be hit by cars a lot of the time. And now he’s playing a hedgehog, and those are also known (sadly) for being hit by cars.
Hah.
Welcome to my brain.
Well, you’ll be able to catch Sonic The Hedgehog 3 when it’s released in cinemas on 20th December, because apparently this is a Christmas movie.
