Publisher Éditions Ludospherik was launched in 2016 to bring Filigree Forge’s Barbarians of Lemuria, Mythic Edition to the French market.
Now, Ludospherik has been so successful in shepherding the game that they’re bringing a series of new edition books to the English-speaking market. The rules are not changing, but the books are being improved, and printed-bound books are being offered. Hundreds of Kickstarter backers are up for the upgrade.
There’s an 18-page preview that you can browse without downloading anything from the Ludospherik site.
Barbarians of Lemuria is a role-playing game set in a sword-and-sorcery world. Though set in the distant future, Lemuria has reverted to a prehistoric state, filled with jungles, wildernesses, swamplands, and deserts. Massive creatures, from sea serpents to dinosaurs, roam these untamed lands.
As the pitch video says, Lemuria is a world where sorcerers ride to battle on the backs of dinosaurs.
The book, which is expected to come in at 232 pages (and 8.5″ x 11″ in size), should have:
- Comprehensive rules, including options for mass warfare and sea battles.
- A detailed guide to Lemuria, encompassing its history, deities, and unique races.
- A bestiary featuring over fifty creatures, plus instructions for creating your own.
- A variety of human adversaries and allies.
- Specialised rules for alchemists, sorcerers, and priests.
- Adventure seeds and five ready-to-play adventures, including two additions by Garnett Elliott and Simon Washbourne.
Backers can support this French project by sharing it on social media and pledging money. Those who pledge €10 or more will get the PDF as a thank you.
The softcover version and the PDF are a tier, with worldwide shipping supported, that unlocks at €40.
Éditions Ludospherik estimate the PDF will be available around October, which is very soon! They suggest the softback might be ready by the end of the year.
The Barbarians of Lemuria, Mythic Edition Kickstarter runs until September 18th.
