Tabletop Mirror isn’t a VTT, although it does have map-making and battle-map functionality. After crowdfunding, the service will have a mobile app (and offline support) and offer a complete worldbuilding system to manage lore, campaign notes, and character sheets.
The catch is that Tabletop Mirror isn’t Tabletop Mirror any more as it’s celebrating hitting $51,000 in a BackerKit crowdfunding campaign to rebrand as Hedron. The website is expected to move to ProjectHedron.com.
The name change apparently reflects “… the platform’s evolution and its commitment to providing a multifaceted, cutting-edge tool for TRPG enthusiasts worldwide.”
It is tough to persuade crowdfunding gamers to back projects like this, and Tabletop Mirror—sorry, Project Hedron—has done well. In part, that’s due to the merging of Role Gate, a play-by-chat solution.
Hedron also supports and is designed for custom games. The pitch here is that you don’t need to hope Hedron keeps up with D&D’s rule changes, gets Chaosium’s permission for BRP, or anything like that if you’re running your own system. Few competitors offer that functionality and offline support.
The successful BackerKit campaign also means Hedron will expand in Card Game Support, a money-rich market to crack.
Started by Varun Singh, a GM and engineer, the once-private tool for managing a world map has expanded and been offered to a broader community.
The press pitch says;
Hedron (formerly Tabletop Mirror) is the premier TTRPG homebrew platform and is truly a one-stop shop for TTRPG homebrew tools. Design and play entirely new TTRPGs, build robust worlds for your home games, and connect with your community – share your lore, worldbuilding, homebrew, and other creations! Hedron gives you all the tools you need to bring your worlds to life, completely customizable, easy-to-use, and with no coding required to bring your stories onto the platform and your game nights to life!
