We’ve got something a bit different for you today, in the form of a side-scrolling movie trailer for horror adventure film The Waves of Madness, and it’s pretty badass.
The movie is inspired by the side-scrolling video games many of us grew up playing back in the day, but not only that – it’s also inspired by old monster movies from the 1930s! Bearing both of those things in mind, the trailer is really quite something to watch.
The Waves of Madness focuses on “a special agent dispatched to investigate a distress call from a round-the-world cruise. Upon arrival, the agent finds the ship eerily abandoned and haunted by a malevolent force that distorts reality and warps sanity into terror.”

Writer and director Jason Trost (The FP series, All Superheroes Must Die), who also stars in the movie, said recently:
With The Waves of Madness, I wanted to create something that felt like it was from another dimension—a film that combines the nostalgia of old-school horror with the innovation of modern technology. It’s a tribute to the films that shaped me and a statement about where I believe the genre can go.
The movie also stars Ryan Gibson and Tallay Wickham, and is set to premiere at Nightmares Film Festival in Columbus, Ohio next month before its festival run begins.
The Waves of Madness will be released in Australia and New Zealand by Umbrella Entertainment, and we’re looking at early 2025. We don’t have any dates for rest of world release, but I’m sure it’s coming!
