Geek Native’s favourite animated film festival, Scotland Loves Anime, is turning 15 and growing.
The charity has become the UK’s largest and longest-running anime film festival and is expanding to London. This year’s multi-venue series is partnered with Picturehouse Central.
- The London run is from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th November.
- Glasgow, which kicks off the vent, is from the 1st to the 3rd of November.
- Edinburgh, our home city, runs from the 4th to the 10th of November, and those extra days are usually used to show some classics.
Scotland Loves Anime 2024 highlights will include Naoko Yamada’s highly anticipated coming-of-age film “The Colors Within“, which received great praise from critics at its Annecy International Film Festival World Premiere. Additionally, the lineup will feature the powerful existential thriller “Look Back“, based on the critically acclaimed manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of “Chainsaw Man“.
The Festival Director, Andrew Partridge, told the press;
I can’t believe it’s been 15 years since we started the festival, but it feels like the right time to expand what we do and bring the festival experience to as many people as possible. We’re excited to be working with our friends at Picturehouse Cinemas to launch the next phase of the festival. The team have been great to work with and stepped up to help us when the festival lost one of its key venues. We’re excited to see how audiences in London react to the launch, and we hope to develop the London weekend in the coming years.”
