A new trailer has just dropped for drama The Room Next Door, from director Pedro Almodóvar. Starring Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore, the film looks like a thought-provoking, profound watch.
Having premiered at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month, and picked up the Golden Lion award, it’s now high on my radar (mainly because Tilda Swinton in anything is usually a good sign, barring Asteroid City).
Here’s the official synopsis:
Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton) were close friends in their youth, when they worked together at the same magazine. Ingrid went on to become an autofiction novelist while Martha became a war reporter, and they were separated by the circumstances of life. After years of being out of touch, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation.

Almodóvar wrote the screenplay as well as directing the movie, which was adapted from the novel entitled What Are You Going Through by Sigrid Nunez.
The Room Next Door also stars Alessandro Nivola, John Turturro, Alex Høgh Andersen, Melina Matthews, Juan Diego Botto, Victoria Luengo, and Esther McGregor, and you’ll be pleased to hear it’s getting a UK release on 25th October (30th December in the US).
