A new trailer has just dropped for Robert Eggers‘ reimagining of the gothic 1920s vampire film Nosferatu, and… we’re still just being teased by the merest glimpses of Bill Skarsgård as Count Orlok.
It seems like we might be waiting for the movie’s actual release before we get to see what he actually looks like, and I think that’s a smart (if slightly frustrating) move.
In the new gothic tale, Nosferatu follows a young woman (Lily-Rose Depp) who’s haunted by her dreams (or nightmares?) in 19th-century Germany, stalked by the ancient Transylvanian vampire Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgård) who’s set to unleash all hell in his wake.
The film also stars Willem Dafoe (Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz) and Nicholas Hoult (Thomas Hutter), alongside Emma Corrin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Simon McBurney, and Ralph Ineson.
Eggers has previously said about the movie:
It’s a scary film. It’s a horror movie. It’s a Gothic horror movie. And I do think that there hasn’t been an old-school Gothic movie that’s actually scary in a while. And I think that the majority of audiences will find this one to be the case.
Well, that’s certainly something to look forward to. Check it out below:
It’s a good time for this trailer, as we’re just about to hit October, and Halloween spook is in people’s minds (I for one have just finished looking through my ‘drobes ahead of Frocktober); however, it’s a Nosferatu Christmas goths everywhere can look forward to, with this film due out on 25th December.
