Dice Legenz’s Vahid Qualls tackled Can introverts play Bards for Geek Native. The GM has no such problem for the Bards of Aratai as he has three stage actors as players in the new D&D show.
The Kickstarter for the new D&D YouTube series and campaign book has been funded twice over, and there’s still weeks left to attract more fans. You can see progress on the pitch page.
The three bards are;
Monique Clementson – Television presenter (The Feed) and theatre actor/singer (RENT, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Misérables…) who plays the glamour bard Kalahari Belle.
Krystal O’Gorman – Improv comedian and stage actor, including the live Dungeons & Dragons show Dungeons & Comedians, who plays the valour bard Evelyn Havoc.
Reylene-Rose Hilaga – musical theatre (choreography Disney Frozen JR), stage actor (The Littlest Ninja) and a music multi-instrumentalist who plays Zozo Cadence.
Dice Legenz will make a 12-episode series, each about 20 to 30 minutes long and that’s a very different format to the multi-hours I like to play but can never make time to watch.
The campaign book also being made will include;
- Setting lore on the Grand Walled City of Aratai.
- Custom maps.
- Character sheets of the bards.
- NPCs who are met in the series and new ones for your own games.
- Descriptions and stat blocks for any custom monsters featured.
- Case scene rules.
- Plot hooks.
The campaign setting book will include 25 additional NPCs and 25 additional Plot Hooks. The NPCs will include vile villains, annoying rivals, wacky weirdos, and helpful allies. The plot hooks will give you a range of tantalizing starters for you to launch your own games in the Bards of Aratia setting. These plot hooks will include mysteries, body guard missions, hunting missions, and heists, and will connect to the maps in the MAP PACK. This stretch goal will allow us to do additional miniatures filming that will really enhance the action visulalisation of the series.
You can support this indie New Zealand-based publisher and entertainment company by spreading the word or pledging cash.
Those who pledge NZ$33, which is about £16, will get the Bards Companion in digital format, their name in the show and VTT map and tokens.
Stepping up to NZ$50 gets backers the softcover of the Bards Companion and all of the above.
Then, at NZ$83, backers get early access to the episodes, raw footage and a personalised video from all the cast members.
A big leap up and to NZ$163 then gets supporters access to small group video calls before or after live shows and some early bird bonus maps.
Higher tiers allow fans to play D&D with some of the cast members and get personal calls.
Dice Legenz estimates the fulfilment of the tiers will be in November of next year, and the Kickstarter runs until October 24th.
