Aquelarre, a Spanish dark fantasy RPG, is again available at Bundle of Holding. Initially published in 1990 by Joc Internacional, the game was designed by Ricard Ibáñez, drawing inspiration from Call of Cthulhu and the Basic Role-Playing system.
Ibáñez sought to create a unique dark fantasy experience, distinct from traditional tropes. He envisioned a world grounded in historical realism, where legends and folklore were tangible realities. This approach resulted in a game featuring a blend of fantastical creatures, magic, historical context, and gritty realism.
Since its initial release, Aquelarre has changed hands between various publishers. This latest Bundle of Holding offer provides a new opportunity for RPG enthusiasts to explore this distinctive take on the dark fantasy genre.
Aquelarre Collection – $9.95
The bundle is on offer until October 10th, and the single tier has a retail value of $55.

The Iberian Peninsula in the late Middle Ages serves as the backdrop for Aquelarre, a dark fantasy RPG. This setting is a world where the lines between the mundane and the supernatural are blurred. Angels, demons, and various nonhuman creatures influence the destinies of five warring kingdoms.
Each region harbours its own unique dangers and mysteries. In Navarre, vampires ride alongside the mercenary White Companies, spreading terror and bloodshed. The forests of Galicia echo with the howls of lobisome werewolves, while lamias and ghouls haunt the roads and tombs of Granada. Fallen angels, known as renuberos, infiltrate the Inquisition in Aragon, perpetrating evil deeds to regain favour with infernal forces. Even the Castilian king, Pedro the Cruel, engages in perilous deals with the Black Prince of England, risking his throne and his soul.
At the heart of this supernatural tapestry lie the meigas, the witches of Galicia. Their clandestine gatherings, the Aquelarre, invoke the power of Lucifer, further fueling the chaos and darkness that grip the land.
