Richard August was the lead tabletop roleplaying game designer at Steamforged Games until today. He’s left for an undisclosed company in Dublin.
While at Steamforged, Richard steered projects such as the RuneScape Kingdoms RPG and Dark Souls.
The RPG designer’s name appears on plenty of other popular titles from other publishers, especially Modiphius and on games like Dune: Adventures in the Imperium and Achtung Cthulhu 2d20: Player’s Guide, but there are also Nightfall Games, Just Crunch Games and Chaosium titles.
Dune: Adventures in the Imperium won “Best Writing” at the 2022 ENnies.
Four years ago, Richard was one of the many authors who worked on Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound Starter Set by Cubicle 7 Entertainment.
Cubicle 7 might be the first TTRPG company people think of when someone mentions an Irish publisher, although there are others. What, however, if Richard is not going to another book publisher? Baldur’s Gate III’s Larian Studios has an office there.
It’s a busy time at Steamforged Games which, just a few months ago, took control of Warmachine and Iron Kingdoms.
