Shadowdark won the 2024 ENnies for Best Rules, Best Game and Product of the Year.
If that’s not enough to get your interest, then how about a collab between Matt Everhart and Gaxx Worx boss Luke Gygax. Wrath of the Sea Lich asked for $5,000 to fund, and there’s currently more than $30,000 pledge with two weeks still left on Kickstarter.
The Wrath of the Sea Lich is a revitalized version of the popular “Oculus of Senrahbah” series, originally designed for 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons. This remastered edition features rebalanced encounters and completely reformatting to align with Shadowdark’s old-school aesthetic.
In Wrath of the Sea Lich, adventurers seek to recover the Eye of Chentoufi, a coveted artefact a local treasure hunter desires. Unbeknownst to them, the ancient Ydrissid lich, Ireshkigal, also seeks the artefact, awakening from millennia of slumber in her underwater lair.
The heroes journey across the city, eventually discovering submerged ruins and remnants of a forgotten era. As they uncover the truth about Ireshkigal’s return, the urgency of their mission intensifies.
The lich’s revival threatens catastrophic consequences, forcing the party to make a crucial decision: harness the power of the Oculus or find a way to destroy it, potentially sacrificing immense power to save the world.
At $5, supporters can get into Wrath of the Sea Lich‘s pledge manager and support the project. However, Kickstarter is the only way to secure virtual or in-person games with the team.
At $20, backers get the PDF copy of the Shadowdark adventure and an extensive list of optional add-ons. The digital stretch goals are added at $40.
It’s $60 when the print copy of Wrath of the Sea Lich joins the reward pile, and when it does so, do all the stretch goals.
Backers get a signed book at $100.
Virtual sessions with Matt Everhart become viable at $300 but are selling out. The $500 tier for Luke Gygax has sold out, as had the real-life $800 encounter.
Gaxx Worx will run this Kickstarter until October 24th; the basic PDF and print editions are due in May 2025, and the signed copies in April.
