The next Cyberpunk RED book is due out soon. Cyberpunk RED is the TTRPG sequel to Cyberpunk 2020, the prequel to the computer game Cyberpunk 2077 and Netflix’s Edgerunners.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners fan? Good news. Not only is there a new Cyberpunk from Netflix, but there is already the Edgerunners Mission Kit for Cyberpunk RED.
Now the new book, Tales of the RED: Hope Reborn, introduces new rules, but they’re all optional, and publisher R Talsorian Games has already given us many of them for free.
What new rules are there in Tales of the RED: Hope Reborn?
- Vehicle Chases – The new rules have a fast and dedicated chase system. However, they’ve been out since May and are in the free-to-download Hot Pursuit (PDF link) supplement.
- Agent Hacking – Rules here allow characters to act the AI-driven hardware (a bit like smartphones) that is used by most folks in the Cyberpunk RED era. Fans have had these rules since All About Agents (PDF link), which is also free.
- Roller Derby – Lead designer J Gray admits to a fondness for the perhaps-imagined violence of punk rollersport. These competitive battles feature in Hope Reborn and have already been published in Chasing the Rabbit (PDF link).
- Headquarters – Empire building in Cyberpunk? Or just a place to hide. These rules have also been published in No Place for Home (PDF). That’s a freebie too.
- Flash of Luck – We’ve not had these rules before, and while they remain optional, they will be unique to Tales of the RED: Hope Reborn. These rules are designed to ease over-planning players (Have you spent an entire session making backup plans?) by letting people spend Luck Points to explain a flashback scene and how they had already planned for an unexpected challenge.
RTG details these rules and some others in a new blog post.
We’re expecting Tales of the RED: Hope Reborn to go on sale on October 15th.
