Chaosium have partnered with DriveThruRPG to launch a new community content program for Pendragon 6th Edition entitled The Champions of Arthur.
There are currently 15 titles available available (with more likely on the way), which range from free/pay what you want to $10 pdf format. Some titles are also available in print-on-demand format in hard and softcover.
The official announcement reads:
Today marks the sixth anniversary of passing of the revered founder of Chaosium, Greg Stafford. Among the many accolades he earned in his life as one of the greatest game designers of all time, Greg considered the award-winning Pendragon roleplaying game to be his magnum opus. So today is a fitting day to officially launch a new program for independent TTRPG creators themselves to create for Greg’s famed Arthurian roleplaying game.
If you wish to publish your own material, you can, with full guidelines are available via DriveThruRPG. However, when it comes to rules reference, the only edition available is Pendragon 6th Edition – with previous editions prohibited (with the exception of material from Appendix 2: Characters and Creatures from Pendragon 5.2 until the Gamemaster’s Handbook is published).
Setting material from previous editions, and public domain sources such as Le Morte d’Arthur can still be referenced alone – as long as the rules from them aren’t used.
There’s also the prohibition of the publication of any non-Arthurian material to mention. That means no alternate settings or other mythologies allowed – Paladin: Warriors of Charlemagne has been specifically named as prohibited.
Finally, we’re not allowed products “primarily written by AI language generators” or any AI art – which is absolutely fine by us. Thankfully, several art packs have already been made available for use with the programme.
But that’s not all! In addition to the content asset packs we mentioned above courtesy of Chaosium, the following titles are available right now as part of the programme:
- Pendragon Mappa Mundi by Matthew Wallhead ($10.00 PDF)
- Squires Rampant by Mark Morrison ($0.99 PDF)
- The Adventure of the Arcadian Bull by Doyle Wayne Ramos-Tavener ($4.99 PDF)
- The Adventure of the Craven Knight by Garry Fay ($3.99 PDF, $6.99 Softcover)
- The Adventure of the Forester Knight by Ben Chessell ($1.99 PDF)
