Well, it’s what we’ve been waiting for… the first full trailer for The Monkey has just dropped from NEON, and it looks like a fun horror frolic from director Osgood Perkins (Longlegs).
We recently covered the teaser, along with the poster introduced to generate some buzz, which reads: “everybody dies. And that’s f*cked up” along with a close-up of the infamous monkey in question looking creepy AF in the dark.
I wouldn’t want it any other way.
The Monkey is adapted from a classic Stephen King short story from his collection Skeleton Crew, and one that, as a huge King fan, I’m very familiar with. It’s a creepy tale of an old mechanical circus monkey that bashes some cymbals with catastrophic effects!
From the official description:
When twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths starts occurring all around them. The brothers decide to throw the monkey away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years. But when the mysterious deaths begin again, the brothers must reunite to find a way to destroy the monkey for good before it takes the lives of everyone close to them.
The Monkey will star Theo James (The White Lotus), Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), Elijah Wood (The Lord Of The Rings), Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), Colin O’Brien (Wonka), Rohan Campbell (The Hardy Boys) and Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek).
James Wan is also on board as producer. Check out the poster below:
And you’ll be able to watch The Monkey when it’s released in cinemas on 21st February, 2025.
What do you think of the first official trailer for The Monkey – are you hoping for this Stephen King adaptation? Let me know in the comments.
