Illustrated by Takashi Konno and coming from Paris’ Ynnis Editions, Nobi Nobi RPG has a group of players take turns being the GM and the main character. It wraps after three rounds.
What’s more, Nobi Nobi RPG uses dice and packs of cards, with each deck acting as a story you can shuffle with another. You can see progress on a Kickstarter.
The pitch video sounds wholesome, and two of the adventure decks are Magic and Sword, but the third is Horror. I’m up for that, but I wonder how spooky it could get!
Takashi Konno is known for Love, Death & Robots, Elden Ring and Bloodborne, so the art seen here could be misleading.
Nobi Nobi is all about the story; there’s no damage to track, and ‘Light’ or ‘Dark’ cards are drawn depending on how well or poorly things have gone.
Curious how it works? The demo rules are free to read online, print, and play.
Each story deck has different characters and themed encounters. If you can’t decide which you want, then there’s a Collectors Box edition too.
Additionally, if the campaign reaches the first major milestone of €50,000, we will unlock Nobi Nobi Thriller, a brand new single box which will be available as the others, and include it in the Realm Wanderer at no additional cost!
Backers at €20 are thanked with a Nobi Nobi deck of their choice, and can add others for the same.
Those supporters who can pledge €65 or more will get the Collectors box instead.
There’s a higher tier because there’s also a limited-edition card option, although limited in number, signed by Takashi Konno. That’s an €120 option.
Super-fans can hit €1,000 and collaborate with Takashi on a character.
The basic decks are slated to ship in May next year and the Kickstarter ends on Halloween.
