The Weird Frontiers tabletop roleplaying game is again available in a revived (undead?) bundle offer. Developed by Stiff Whiskers Press, Weird Frontiers is a standalone game based on the Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG system by Goodman Games.
The game blends elements of the Weird West genre with Lovecraftian horror, creating a unique setting where players confront ancient evils and cosmic horrors in a frontier setting. Here’s some TTRPG industry history: the game was once known as Dark Trails but was changed to avoid clashing with Chaosium’s Down Darker Trails.
The bundle is nicely timed for Halloween and finishes on the 31st.
Starter Collection – $5.95
The retail value of this tier comes to $23, and the core rules usually cost $15.
- The 908-page Weird Frontiers core rulebook,
- Trail Map,
- Judge’s Screen
Bonus Collection
The threshold price started at $17.95, and those who meet the current value unlock a further $50 in downloads.
- Dig Three Graves,
- Malevolent Seven,
- Nest of Snakes,
- Never Swallow the Worm!,
- Not So Fast, Billy Ray!
The plot is set in an alternate 1865, and the game’s narrative unfolds after a cabal of Nyarlathotep cultists awaken ancient and malevolent Elder Gods.
In response to this cosmic threat, Earth’s ley lines surge with arcane energy, imbuing ordinary individuals with supernatural abilities. Players take on the roles of these empowered “trailhands,” tasked with confronting the encroaching darkness in a world still reeling from a devastating war.
Weird Frontiers presents a unique blend of action, horror, and moral dilemmas. Players must navigate a dangerous landscape where even well-intentioned heroes can be tempted by forbidden powers.
