My reading books, TTRPG books and board games are close in my heart and closely related in my brain, but they are not friends on my shelves. Board games, in particular, insist on coming in lovely shapes and sizes.
Ikea’s Kallax range has become a go-to for the basis of my little office and overflows into the living room. Despite the furniture engineering wizards found in Ikea, the Kallax isn’t enough, and the board game boxes still get messy.
Brand Lax Rax has helped. They make heavy-duty ‘cube shelf’ inserts just for board games.
If that sounds unlikely, then understand that these Kickstarted units have made it to Amazon.
The Lax Rax stick to the inner walls of your (sorry, Ikea lawyers) Kallax shelves, so you don’t need screws, and there’s enough to transform a single shelf set into 12 board game spaces.
Storing the games horizontally means I trust pieces not to move around in the boxes, and the Lax Rax means I always get to the box I want.
Geek Native does not often blog about interior design, although 8 years ago, we had these (now abandoned ) horror blinds and who can forget this Gengar butt pillow.
