It’s bittersweet news for Good Omens fans today, as Prime Video have announced the series will come to an end with a single 90-minute episode, rather than a full third season.
It could be worse. There was always the possibility that the series was going to be cut entirely, following the serious sexual assault allegations brought against writer Neil Gaiman (who quickly offered to step back from the series in order for it to continue).
That would have been a huge shame, considering season three promised to tell a story Gaiman and Pratchett had come up with in a hotel room together many years ago.
Knowing that Pratchett was involved with the plot gave people something to look forward to for this third season – before the allegations came to light, that is. Now it’s understandable there may be some mixed feelings about the whole thing.
I for one am glad we get to see a resolution to the story Good Omens has been telling, and that we get to see Michael Sheen‘s Aziraphale and David Tennant‘s Crowley back on our screens once again – even if it is just for 90 minutes.
Also back on our screens, we’ll see Jon Hamm, Miranda Richardson and Frances McDormand, for a hopefully satisfactory conclusion to this series.
