A year ago, with Andrews McMeel Publishing apparently backing out of tabletop RPGs, World of Game Design bought the grimdark Zweihander from them.
Now, SLLSWRD Publishing, which is led by Daniel D. Fox, has bought the game back. Daniel D. Fox created Zweihander and moved to Andrews McMeel when they purchased the roleplaying game and left the company as they changed directions.
Jared Nielsen, the owner of World of Game Design, told the press;
As a business incubator, we were pleased to help shepherd ZWEIHÄNDER through the Reforged launch and years of convention and organized play exposure. We look forward to bringing ZWEIHÄNDER to retailers throughout the world.”
World of Game Design has had some success expanding the reach of the Zweihander tabletop roleplaying game throughout 2023 and 2024. The company says that by providing services such as convention management, organized play support, and product fulfilment, WOGD has helped Zweihander connect with new audiences and strengthen its presence in the U.S. market. WOGD is also committed to ensuring a seamless fulfilment process for the Zweihander Reforged Kickstarter campaign.
Daniel D. Fox noted;
We appreciate the expertise and contributions that WOGD brought to the growth ZWEIHÄNDER has experienced. I’m excited to bring it back home here in Kansas City and continue to expand on the game’s dark and immersive world with familiar faces and new collaborators.”
Zweihander is an ENnie Award-winning d100 tabletop RPG and Zweihander: Reforged is the next edition.
