The first trailer for Daniel Craig’s latest upcoming film Queer has just dropped from A24, and it’s already being described as “a career best” from director Luca Guadagnino (Challengers, Call Me By Your Name, Suspiria, Bones and All).
Set in the 1950s, the movie is adapted from a novel by William S. Burroughs novel, and the story is set in the 1950s, and follows William Lee (Craig), who as “an American expat in Mexico City, spends his days almost entirely alone, except for a few contacts with the other members of the small American community.
“His encounter with Eugene Allerton ( Drew Starkey), an expat former soldier new to the city, shows him – for the first time – it might be finally possible to establish an intimate connection with somebody.”
And it’s not only director Guadagnino who’s been getting high praise for this film; Craig’s performance is also apparently a stand-out. I’m going to call it right now as ‘one to watch’. Check out the trailer below:
Also making up the cast we have Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman, Henrique Zaga, Omar Apollo, and Colin Bates.
And Queer will be released in select cinemas from 27th November.
What do you think of the trailer for Queer? Will you be watching if you can get to a cinema that’s screening it? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
