Have we really got to 2024 without having an Immortan Joe in the 12 Masks of Halloween series?
I guess so!
This mask by ImmortalProps is not a Halloween trinket. It’s a hugely accurate replica, hand-painted and crafted. It’s a collector’s piece. It looks scary cool.
The Immortan Joe mask ships from the States and will come to me in the UK if I was much more prosperous.
Who is Immortan Joe?
Immortan Joe is the main antagonist in the Mad Max film franchise. He first appears in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) as the tyrannical ruler of the Citadel, hoarding water and exploiting his people. He’s depicted as a physically imposing figure with a respirator mask and a cult-like following.
He reappears in the prequel Furiosa (2024), which explores his backstory and rise to power. This film shows a younger, more cunning Immortan Joe as he establishes his dominance and builds the Citadel.
Here’s what makes him memorable:
- Appearance: He’s a physically imposing figure with a grotesque appearance, wearing a breathing apparatus and a mask that hides his deformities.
- Cult Leader: He’s worshipped as a god-like figure by his War Boys, a cult of zealous warriors who believe he will lead them to Valhalla.
- Cruelty: Immortan Joe is incredibly cruel and oppressive, hoarding resources, enslaving people, and using his power to exploit and control others.
- Motivation: He’s obsessed with producing healthy heirs to continue his legacy, which drives much of his actions in the film.
Immortan Joe is a truly terrifying villain, embodying the dangers of unchecked power and the desperation of a post-apocalyptic world.
