Kevin Crawford, the one-man-power that is Sine Nomine Publishing, is back on Kickstarter. Ashes Without Number is an RPG for the end of the world, and that can be whatever terrible end you fancy.
The crowdfunding campaign finishes on December 1st has nearly 3,000 backers, and is approaching $200,000 in funds. You can see progress on the pitch page.
The RPG is funded, and Sine Nomine Publishing has yet to be late with a delivery. Therefore, we can expect genre-specific rules for;
- Post-apocalyptic mutant wastelands
- Zombie-infested Deadlands
- Near-future living post-societal collapse
Crawford will also include campaign guidelines for exploration and crisis-survival games, complete with step-by-step guides for building adventures.
Ashes Without Number will have more than a hundred ‘creation tags’ to help GMs imagine enclaves, rules to support them and crisis-generation tools to destroy them.
A classic framework of six attributes, hit points, saving throws, and other traditional elements is supported by genre-specific rules and tools for bringing the right flavor of ruin to the table. Gritty perils of disease, traumatic stress, lingering wounds, and starvation are pointed up for campaigns set in a tragic near-future chaos, while wasteland marauders have support for mutations, scrap-built gear, and enigmatic ancient tech. These systems are built to snap smoothly into place in your campaign, letting you pick the ones that fit the feel you’re aiming to create.
Backers at $25 get the DRM-free copy of the PDF via DriveThruRPG.
At $40, backers get the DRM-free PDF copy and an at-cost coupon for a print-on-demand copy as well. That means you’ll still have to pay printing and shipping costs.
If you’re in the United States, then at $80, you can also unlock a Smyth-sewn and offset-print hardback. There’s also a $80 tier for countries that are affordable to ship, but shipping costs are added later for this latter and last tier.
The expected delivery for all four levels is November next year.
