Archeron Games is looking to lure 5e players on an epic journey through history and myth in Marco Polo’s Legacy: Road to the Celestial Empire, a new setting inspired by the travels of Marco Polo and infused with Chinese folklore.
The Quickstart is out now and free to download.
In the setting, player characters become members of the Guardian Merchants, a secret society that protects the world from supernatural threats. In this exciting historical fantasy adventure, these travelling heroes will explore the Silk Road, battle demons and would-be gods, and uncover powerful arcane artefacts!
The Kickstarter alert page is live, and hundreds of followers will get an alert when the campaign launches.
The quickstart blurb at DriveThruRPG tells us there will be three books created in collaboration with Chinese cultural consultants;
- Road to the Celestial Empire (a setting book)
- Monsters of the Celestial Empire (a 5E bestiary based on Chinese folklore and myths)
- The Travels of Marco Polo (an illustrated edition)
The collection will offer;
- 50+ new 5E Monsters for the setting.
- There are 12 new spectacular Dungeons & Dragons 5E subclasses, including:
- Templar Exile (Barbarian)
- Karaunas Master of Shadows (Rogue)
- Warlock of the Pact of the Ten Kings (Warlock)
- Quánzhēn-trained Monk of Internal Alchemy (Monk)
- 1 new Species: the Starchosen.
- 8 new Backgrounds
- Rules for the Ars Mercatoria, the secret art merchant mastered by the Guardian Merchants, transform the party’s trade and diplomatic negotiations into biting battles of strategy.
- Rules for creating and managing your caravan and travelling between your outposts along the Silk Road and within the Celestial Empire.
