William Shatner has returned one last time to his most famous character, Captain Kirk, in a short 8-minute film entitled 765874 – Unification.
Made to honour the 30th anniversary of Generations (wow, I’m old), the story follows the events of Star Trek: Generations, where we last saw Kirk playing the hero and dying on an uninhabited planet as a result.
Produced by graphics company, OTOY, along with Paramount and Shatner himself, it’s been described as a touching tribute to the beloved captain, who’s shown as a de-aged version of himself, sometimes played by actor Sam Witwer, roaming an otherworldly realm before stumbling upon an old friend.
It’s actually quite lovely, and open to interpretation as to what’s actually going on (as there’s zero dialogue). Check it out below:
What do you think of Kirk’s final goodbye in 765874 – Unification? Would love to hear your thoughts, so let me know in the comments.
