Check out the trailer for an intense-looking, deeply sensual new indie vampire movie called Swap, released by Dread. The movie has been described as “a twisted story of vampires living a life of blood and debauchery.”
The plot centres on a couple who seem to want to spice up their love life, but in doing so are “lured into the clutches of a bloodthirsty 500-year-old vampire; the exotic stranger tries to persuade them to swap partners and join his kind.”
Director Dallas King has said about the movie:
Dread in bed with Swap is a perfect combo that’s ripe for those who love a tantalizing vampire story whose origins come from what happens with bored couples behind closed doors. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, Swap brings a new take on the origin story of vampires. Leave the wooden stakes at home, and instead, come up with a safe word for this fanged ride of debauchery.

I just don’t know about this one. It looks to be leaning hard on the sex angle, and I guess that’s fine, but I’m reminded of when they changed Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice into a TV series where all the vampires were suddenly shagging each other (which doesn’t happen in the books), it didn’t sit right with me. Maybe I still have unresolved issues from that which is affecting how I feel about this!
Swap is currently available to stream right now on VOD, and stars Jessica Leila Greene, James Eastwood, Erin Anne Gray, Dallas King.
