Bat in the Attic Games published the 204 pages of The Majestic Fantasy RPG in 2021, and it has 5/5 stars after over a dozen ratings on DriveThruRPG. However, it’s not finished.
Now, in a blog post to outline plans for 2025, Robert Conley states,
My goal is to have three major releases this year. Into the Majestic Fantasy Realms, Scourge of the Demon Wolf 2nd edition, and finally the full rules for the Majestic Fantasy RPGs.
So, why the wait? Firstly, Robert notes that he writes reasonably slowly, partly due to the side effects of childhood hearing loss, but there have been other complications.
Before I got the license from Judges Guild to do the Majestic Wilderlands, I was working on a new setting that incorporated all the original material I created over the four decades I have been running the Wilderlands without any Judges Guild IP. The result was the Points of Light books from Goodman Games and Blackmarsh. … Now that I no longer have a Judges Guild license, I have returned to that setting, and the first release will be Into the Majestic Fantasy Realms, the Northern Marches.
Here’s what those three titles look like;
- Into the Majestic Fantasy Realms, the Northern Marches will be a set of four 12″ by 18″ hex maps for the Great Glacier (NW), The Wild North (NE), Blackmarsh (SW), and Northport (SE).
- Scourge of the Demon Wolf 2e will expand the notes on the hexcrawl and move the whole adventure to Duchy of Northport, a Majestic Fantasy Realms location.
- The Majestic Fantasy RPG is therefore earmarked as a Kickstarter for late 2025. The project will fund art and editing, as the draft rules have already been written.
Bat in the Attic Games aims to release the TTRPG in five books, four digest-sized. The digest books are;
- The Manual of Puissant Skill – The player’s handbook.
- The Domesday Codex – a manual of characters.
- The Legendarium of the Fantastic – a manual of monsters.
- The Tome of the Mundane, Strange, and Arcane – a guide for running games.
The original The Majestic Fantasy RPG notes its compatibility with Swords & Wizardry.
It’s also worth praising Robert for cutting ties in the Judges Guild in 2020. Other TTRPG publishers followed.
