That’s right, it seems like viewers absolutely LOVE a trip to Westeros, but… not a lot of people love paying for it. Game of Thrones previously held the title for the most pirated TV show between 2012 to 2017, and now we’re seemingly carrying on the tradition! (*ahem* Well, I’m not – I pay for it!)
House of the Dragon (AKA Big Dragon House, as I like to call it) scooped up the title in 2022, and now it seems it’s the champion yet again!
It’s easy to see why. Watching the show is like a kind of self-torture we just can’t quite shake; it’s got us hooked on the world and emotionally attached to the characters in it, but OH MY FROG, THE DRAGONS!!! If anything happens to those teeny tiny baby dragons, Bob help me…
NOTE: I *KNOW* it isn’t going to end well. I’m watching it anyway. I’m probably going to cry a lot.
Anyway, we got this news via TorrentFreak, with rankings based on traffic from BitTorrent. It’s a fairly solid indicator, and the best we’re going to get, even if it doesn’t include what’s being pirated via other sites. It also doesn’t include anime, so bear that in mind:
- House of the Dragon (HBO)
- The Boys (Prime Video)
- Shogun (Hulu)
- Arcane (Netflix)
- The Penguin (HBO)
- Fallout (Prime Video)
- Reacher (Prime Video)
- Silo (Apple TV+)
- Dune: Prophecy (HBO)
- Halo (Paramount+)
By taking a closer look at this list, we can surmise that a lot of pirates these days seem to be really into their sci-fi, fantasy, superheroes, and video game content – in other words, geeks like us.
Please pay for your content (if you can), folks. Pirating isn’t cool. If you love watching something, support it – or risk losing it.
