The first comic, Hank Howard, Pizza Detective in Caligula’s Safe, cost just $1, and now published Bad Idea is on to grander things.
Bad Idea always sends interesting emails. They do love their PR stunts, and that’s no bad thing. Please, publishers, be interesting. There are two things about the upcoming Hank Howard Pizza Detective Kickstarter that have my attention. The campaign, if successful, will had 200 new pages of content to a series that started off as a likely one-and-done special project.
Firstly, Bad Idea are trying to break a world record for fastest delivery of a campaign. Do you remember when pizza delivery places used to offer money back if your pizza was late? Well, this publisher says if they don’t get your ultra-deluxe hardcovers to you within 30 days of the campaign’s competition then your entire order is free.
I strongly suspect they’ve forgotten or will exclude the world outside the United States or perhaps North America.
Secondly, there’s a limited edition add-on that’s made from the same cardboard as pizza boxes. It is a pizza box by design, co-created by a New York packaging manufacturer and it’ll be a foot tall. I think it’ll look great but it won’t fit in any bookcase I have.
Hank Howard is written by Robert Venditti and the campaign goes live on Tuesday.
