Vaundy is a young musician who started off by posting to YouTue and now has songs in the charts and use to in anime tie-ins for tiles like “Ranking of Kings“, “Chainsaw Man” and “My Hero Academia“.
Vaundy’s latest anime project is a partnership with the three-piece rock band Conton Candy for Netflix’s current anime darling Sakamoto Days. The opening theme has been on YouTube for 11 days at the time of blogging, and gained more than 1.1 million views.
Did you get hitman vibes from that? We have got the English sub-titled trailer coming up.
Sakamoto Days is by Yuto Suzuki, about the feared and ultimate assassin Taro Sakamoto… after retirement.
You see, Taro fell in love. Aoi, a shop assistant, loved him back, and he retired from life as an assassin so that he could live with her and open a store together. The new life suits him, and he bulks up, putting on weight, charming glasses and looking homely.
Despite having promised not to kill, Taro can still (and does) protect his family as assassin attacks begin to pile on!
The Netflix show is live. The blurb for episode one says;
Sakamoto enjoys a quiet life in retirement with his family. But one day, an old colleague demands he return to the assassin world — or face consequences.
Vaundy told the press;
When I wrote “RUN SAKAMOTO RUN”, I aimed to convey the inspirational protagonist Sakamoto’s overwhelming, unmatched strength. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to record the song in London, which gave it a unique sound, making it a piece I can truly say I gave my all to.
I hope the song ‘runs’ together with the manga, anime, and all of you guys!
