We’ve got a treat for you tonight, in the form of a trailer for a new horror comedy film entitled Clown in a Cornfield – released by RLJE Films and Shudder.
With Eli Craig (Tucker & Dale vs Evil), and based on Adam Cesare’s best-selling horror series of the same name, this has some real potential to be good. I’m really hoping it’s good, and the fact I chuckled a few times whilst watching the trailer makes me feel pretty positively about it.
In fact, that’s why I’m calling it a horror/comedy, even though it’s being introduced as a straight-out horror in other online publications.
The story centres on the characters of Quinn and her father, “who have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down.
“As the locals bicker amongst themselves & tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. Welcome to Kettle Springs. The real fun starts when Frendo the clown comes out to play.”
Now, watch this trailer and answer me this: Are you a friend of Frendo?
Seems horror clowns (much like domesticated murderous AI robots) are definitely still in vogue at the moment – because we wouldn’t want a new generation to grow up without their mandatory clown phobias, would we?
Clown in a Cornfield will be released in select cinemas on 9th May, 2025 – and presumably you’ll also be able to watch it later down the line on Shudder if you miss it on the big screen.
And remember; never f*ck with Frendo.
What do you think of the trailer for Clown in a Cornfield? Will you be watching it at the cinema, catching it later on Shudder, or avoiding it altogether because f*ck Frendo, you’ve had enough clown nightmares? Comment below.
