If you’ve ever had to explain that Steve Jackson of the Fighting Fantasy series by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone is no relation to Steve Jackson of Steve Jackson Games, buckle up!
Steve Jackson Games is bringing back the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks back to print. The Kickstarter target has been smashed, and you can see the progress on the pitch page.

The Fighting Fantasy series have been out of print in the States for over two decades. I feel they’ve been remade a few times in the UK since, especially in digital formats.
The pitch explains what makes these new US editions unique. One reason is that they’ll have original art, but a second reason is that print will be larger than before, making the gamebooks easier to read.
Importantly for some collectors, these gamebooks have been designed so that they’re a set and look good together on the shelf.
There is a catch. Steve Jackson Games doesn’t have the license to do PDF copies of the books. They’ve gone all in on the tactile experience.
We have daring plans to bring Fighting Fantasy back to the United States, and we’re already hard at work on the next volumes in the series. However, our vision remains the same – to deliver awesome gamebook excitement to your hands – and our journey begins with five of the most popular installments of the series.

Backers at $1 support the project and buy into the pledge manager. Once in these backers can spend more money (not less) based on what Steve Jackson Games makes available.
At $15, and shipping to anywhere in the world, there’s a physical copy of book one The Warlock of Firetop Mountain.
The next tier is $60, and it offers the first five books in the series, which means backers also get Deathtrap Dungeon, City of Thieves, The Citadel of Chaos and The Forest of Doom.
The campaign runs until March 18th, and Steve Jackson Games estimates that Steve Jackson’s adventure books will ship around June 2025.
