Cubicle 7, Games Workshop’s partner for tabletop RPGs, will publish a new Warhammer game. Warhammer The Horus Heresy will go on preorder in the Summer of 2025, with the Core Rulebooks and Starter Set available in stores from Spring 2026.
There’s no mention of a crowdfunding campaign.

The Horus Heresy is a hugely important part of Warhammer 40,000’s lore and mythology. It’s when the human Empire suffered a treachery that led to civil war and 10,000 years of war. The sci-fi fiction series about the event has its own Wikipedia page!
Horus was one of the Emperor’s genetically engineered sons, known as the Primarchs, who led the enhanced superhumans known as Space Marines. Horus Lupercal led the Luna Wolves Legion and was the first Warmaster, most favoured by the Emperor.
Corrupted by Chaos, the Warmaster turned against humanity and started a conflict which killed billions.
Cubicle 7’s Dominic McDowall told the press;
The Horus Heresy is the founding story of one of gaming and science fiction’s best-loved settings. The epic scale of the Heresy’s tragic tale is as big as it gets, and the legends your characters forge in the roleplaying game will rival those found in the classics.”
Warhammer The Horus Heresy starts at the flashpoint of the betrayal at Isstvan. Player characters are caught up in the chaos, harried by traitors and without certainty on whom to trust. Some of the Space Marines have changed sides, following Horus.
Cubicle 7 explains;
Warhammer The Horus Heresy is set 10,000 years before the current events of the Warhammer 40,000 timeline. The galaxy is in flames and the Emperor’s glorious vision for humanity is in ruins. The Warmaster Horus, has been corrupted by Chaos and started a galactic civil war. The mighty and redoubtable Space Marines, mankind’s ultimate warriors who once fought side by side protecting the galaxy, now stand divided. Some remain loyal to the Emperor, whilst others have sided with the Warmaster.
Cubicle 7 also publishes the Warhammer 40K RPG Imperium Maledictum, in which PCs are Inquisitors, and the best-selling Wrath & Glory, in which PCs can be Space Marines and for which the campaign Darktide: Extraction has just been released.
The announcement of a Horus Heresy RPG will likely fuel speculation that Henry Cavill’s Warhammer TV show will be one set during the Heresy.
