Geek Natives in the UK might have noticed one or two adverts for Raving Rabbids Travel In Time. As it happens Ubisoft are pumping £1m into the Rabbids campaign. Who said Ubisoft was all about Assassin’s Creed?
As you might imagine most of the advertising is being spent on children’s TV channels – CiTV, Cartoon Network, Nick and Boomerang. There is a Display campaign to match as well.
Ombeline Wallon, who looks after the Ubisoft brand in the UK, told trade press;
“These are brands that children really engage with and whose websites are real destinations for our target audience.
“In the UK, the Rabbids have sold over 1.3m video games since their first appearance and we expect our new title to build on this solid base.
“The brand has also started to attract partners outside of video games which enables us to multiply our touchpoints with consumers, therefore increasing the fame of the Rabbids themselves.
“From the Renault Grand Scenic adverts in cinemas, to the series of collectable figurines and the recently announced collaboration with Aardman on a pilot for an animated TV show, the Rabbids brand is certainly gaining momentum.”
I’m a big fan of the Rabbids although I thought Rabbids Go Home (Wii) let the side down. It had lost the mini game aspect that made Rabbids such a pick up and play game in the first place.
What do you think?
