McDonald’s is launching its first ever ‘adult happy meal’ in the UK – and it’s targeting us geeks! The release will coincide with the release of A Minecraft Movie, and you’ll be able to get your hands on six different Minecraft collectables.
Okay, so it’s not technically called an adult happy meal, but that’s pretty much what it is. For £8.19 you’ll be able to choose between a Big Mac, nine Chicken McNuggets, or four Veggie Dippers – plus a side and a drink.
The collectibles themselves are ‘blockified’ versions of much-loved, classic McDonald’s characters – plus fries, a bomb (I think?), and a Big Mac, because of course you need a blockified one of those (Big Mac’s always been my fave).
They’re also adding a couple of other extras as part of this launch; a new Apple Cake McFlurry, and Nether Flame Sauce. Interesting! Check out the collectables below:
Here’s what Ben Fox, senior vice president chief marketing officer at McDonald’s UK and Ireland had to say (via Metro):
McDonald’s is exploring a brand-new world with the A Minecraft Movie collaboration. We’re always looking for fun and exciting ways to bring excitement to our menu and the A Minecraft Movie Meal is a perfect way to bring two icons together.
This partnership has allowed us to bring amazing collectibles, crafted for adults, to the UK for the first-time ever!
We can’t wait for fans to meet their favourite McDonaldsland characters in blockified form, and to experience the new products which have been inspired by the A Minecraft Movie universe – Nether Sauce and Apple Cake McFlurry.
And there’s also the actual happy meal version, of course – because we can’t leave the kids out! I personally think these look fabulous, too.
Speaking about the Happy Meals, Ben Fox said:
We are delighted that two iconic worlds are colliding – McDonald’s and A Minecraft Movie, to create the ultimate Happy Meal. This first-ever collaboration allows us to bring the characters of A Minecraft Movie to life, including beloved Creeper and Skeleton, in the form of exclusive Happy Meal toys. Children will be able to unleash their imagination and embark on their very own A Minecraft Movie adventures.
Well, I can see these being a big hit – with kids and grown-up kids alike! In fact, I wouldn’t put it past some people I know to want to collect the entire lot, kids or no kids!
The A Minecraft Movie happy meal collection will launch on Wednesday 26th March and will run for a few weeks. Will you be getting yours?
