In The Dee Sanction, players work with the infamous Doctor John Dee to investigate and deal with supernatural threats to the Elizabethan throne.
The indie RPG is common at tables at UK gaming conventions, and now Just Crunch Games has taken it back to Kickstarter to fund the Monad Edition.

The game was funded in a day.
In this era, kingdoms and nation-states are locked in a fierce power struggle, the Church is fracturing under the immense strain of reform, and creatures of folklore are emerging from the Unravelled veil, seeking vengeance upon those who imprisoned them. Players take on the roles of agents operating under the direction of the enigmatic John Dee, tasked with protecting the realm from these supernatural threats.
At its core, a typical Dee Sanction game unfolds as a series of crucial steps. The game begins with strange and unsettling events that capture the attention of either John Dee himself or his network of agents. These occurrences hint at a deeper, often supernatural, problem lurking beneath the surface of everyday life. These strange happenings invariably pose a threat to the city, the Crown, or the entire country. The agents must quickly determine the nature and scope of this threat to prevent disaster. Agents then investigate to uncover the truth behind the strange happenings.
The Monad Edition of The Dee Sanction expands the game with new content for players and game masters. This new edition includes brand-new adventures, providing fresh challenges and mysteries for agents to unravel. It also features numerous hooks and tables designed to help generate encounters or even entire missions, offering many gameplay possibilities and a greater depth of detail to the world setting, enriching the game’s atmosphere and providing a more immersive experience.
The system focuses on simple mechanics. A player rolls against one of three Resources — measured by a dice value for Physical, Intellectual and Supernatural. An Agent always makes progress, but a result of 1 or 2 throws up complexity and potential harm. With a roll of 3 or higher, you overcome the challenge.
And challenge is the key. Even a lousy roll won’t stop progress; it just means things might get more complicated. In failure, the story always moves forward, even if it might tilt toward potential disaster! Every character has their moment, and each new obstacle diverges the plot, for good or ill.

Backers at £20 get a PDF copy of the game as a reward.
At £35, supporters get a hardcover copy of the Monad Edition, the PDF and access to add-ons.
Just Crunch Games is closely aligned to All Rolled Up, and at £70, backers get a signed edition of The Dee Sanction and accessories from the shop.
It’s the top tier, at £100, and it looks to be very popular. It also offers All-rolled-up dice holders, dice trays, dice, coins, and even a coaster.
All Rolled Up is a company indies go to for their Kickstarter fulfilment, and it won’t be a surprise to know they’re handling this one.
The Kickstarter runs until April 20th, and The Dee Sanction Monad Edition is slated for January 2026.
