Oddly, I only attend the occasional gaming convention and follow very few influencers/tastemakers/vloggers.
So when Alex Middleton, aka AJM_Nerdcore had a TikTok announcing that she’d be at UK Games Expo this year, I took notice.

I like AJM_Nerdcore’ content because it’s pleasantly highbrow and snackable. We’ve had content on speaking High Valyrian and whether Tyranids really need to wage war. My favourite has been the Lord of the Rings lore exploration, such as what happened to Arwen after Aragorn. We get all this content despite the (can you imagine how bad it must get) gatekeeping troll comments a young woman representing nerdy ways must get.
Alex’s long-form content is on YouTube and includes TTRPG reviews, with the latest D&D Monster Manual being a recent topic.
To my delight, Alex agreed to a Q&A with Geek Native, as we are both ready to rock up at the UK Games Expo in a month or so! I’ll ask about potential game highlights, a debate on whether Games Workshop will represent and saying hello.
What are you doing to prepare for UK Games Expo?
I am currently getting to know the vendors, games, and creators that have particularly caught my interest, especially The Lord of the Rings: Fate of the Fellowship. I’m genuinely looking forward to the opportunity to meet Matt Leacock!
At the time of writing, UKGE don’t seem to be listing Games Workshop as a sponsor or even in the exhibitors. Do you think GW will go?
I’ve seen they have been major sponsors in previous years – it would be a real shame if they don’t.
On a scale where 0% is impossible and 100% is a guarantee what do you think the percentage chance of Henry Cavill going is?
5% as I’m sure he’s filming Highlander! (5% is me holding out hope)

Are there any games in particular you’re looking to find out more about at UK Games Expo in 2025?
The Lord of the Rings: Fate of the Fellowship – I’m really excited for this.
Will you have time to play any games or will you be working the whole time?
I will absolutely be making time to play!
You’ve been great at making the tabletop hobby both friendly and accessible to a wide range of people. Do you have any tips for these, potentially new and nervous people who might be going for the first time?
I’m new and nervous too so I’d welcome anyone to come and say hi. I attend a lot of conventions and I find taking some time initially just to get your bearings helps and then exploring at your own pace. I love putting some film scores on my headphones and going on my own adventure to explore the vendors and hopefully meet some like minded people
The Lord of the Rings: Fate of the Fellowship
I don’t know if you spotted the common theme in the quick interview, but let’s talk Fate of the Fellowship!
Using Matt Leacock’s Pandemic System, The Lord of the Rings: Fate of the Fellowship is due to go on general release just after the UK Games Expo.
However, Zatu has said they’ll be at UKGE 2025 and have hinted it’ll be available to purchase there.
I think Alex is right; this could be a candidate for the game of the year and one that premiers in Birmingham.
