Rod Waibel is back on Kickstarter to raise money for vile, malevolent, orcish, and goblin clans.
The Horde! is a stonethrow away from reaching its funding goal and going wild. The Kickstarter campaign runs until April 30th; you can see its progress from the pitch page.
The Kickstarter does two things: it summons up rules for really nasty enemies and makes sure those rules can work for you in 5e, OSE and Shadowdark games.
On offer are new classes and subclasses and playable ancestries. That rather suggests these orcs and goblins won’t just be the baddies – they could be the PCs too, even if the PCs are evilly aligned.
The new ancestries come with backgrounds, motivations, lore and behavioural tips. To help play the goblins or bring NPCs to life, the book also has dozens of quirky orcish and gobbo phrases.
There are also new spells, new feats, skills and traits as appropriate to turn these warriors and shamans into unique characters not yet seen in your game.
Horde is a supplement for your 5e, OSE, or Shadowdark games, bringing nearly a dozen new orc and goblin ancestries into your gameworld. The clans contained are not for the feint of heart, as they are wholly evil and malevolent. Whether a clan that worships necromantic energy, or a clan that embraces fungal horrors, or a clan that oppresses others through colonial imperialism, you will find the perfect clan to act as classic antagonists for your fantasy game.

Backers who pledge $10 get a digital copy of The Horde!
At $25, you get the PDF and a discount for the hardback. Rod will be using DriveThruRPG for print-on-demand, so hopefully, there’s a printer on the right side of a tariff to you. You do have to pick which hardback code you want, though: 5e, OSE or Shadowdark.
Alternatively, those who pledge $50 will get all three hardback discount codes and the PDF.
The discount codes unlock “at-cost” printing at DriveThruRPG, which leaves you the cost and shipping to pay.
The estimated arrival of The Horde! (gulp!) is June 2025.
