A new adventure module for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, titled “Lazlo’s Cubed Crypt,” has been announced. Designed for level 12 characters, the adventure incorporates a unique physical Puzzle Cube that serves as a map.

The premise centres around Lazlo the Lavish, a former advisor who became a lich and instigated widespread conflict before being defeated. With his phylactery undiscovered, his return remains a possibility. The adventure begins with rumours of Lazlo’s reappearance, leading players to his crypt. However, the crypt acts as a gateway to a demiplane created by Lazlo, featuring non-conventional geometry that challenges traditional mapping methods.
A key feature of “Lazlo’s Cubed Crypt” is the Puzzle Cube map, with cartography by Dyson Logos. Dungeon Masters can integrate the cube as an unsolved puzzle for players or provide it in its solved state as a navigational tool through the dungeon.
To fund the manufacturing of the Puzzle Cube and physical copies of the adventure book, a crowdfunding campaign is scheduled to launch on Backerkit on April 22, 2025, running until May 21, 2025. Proposed stretch goals include additional adventures utilising the Puzzle Cube map, designed for various tiers of gameplay.
The project is led by writer Nathan Doyle, who has previously published D&D content on the DMs Guild and contributed to other projects.
