Cameron Tressler has their first project on Kickstarter for Obelisk. The roleplaying isn’t political commentary and is a dark fantasy about cults bringing their doom.
A great tower, the Obelisk, is being built, and with each stone laid, the madness spreads. Then the final stone is in place, the world will be destroyed and yet the cults continue to build. You can see progress on the pitch page.
Obelisk is Cameron’s first Kickstarter, and if this makes you uncertain about the quality of the work, then the antidote is to check out the free preview that’s available.
The free preview documents in a Google Drive detail the rules for character creation, skill checks, combat, magic (including spells and rituals), and stress/mental fortitude. The system uses a D6 dice pool resolution mechanic and is set in the baroque-style continent of Eurlithis.
The documents provided by the team also show changes and adjustments to the rules over time, reflecting feedback from playtesting and development. Obelisk started as a board game and grew.
The art, which I think is noteworthy, is made by humans. Obelisk won’t be a giant game, which suits me, and the rules are estimated at around 80+ pages.
Obelisk is a horror-fantasy roleplaying game set on the unique, twisted continent of Eurlithis. Players will take the role of heroes doing battle against insane cults and eldritch monstrosities. They must work together to fight these agents of chaos and keep the tides of madness at bay, all while keeping their sanity intact.

Backers at $15 get the PDF as a reward, along with a character sheet.
Those who support the horror TTRPG and can step up to $35 unlock the softcover version of Obelisk.
There’s one more supporter tier, and that’s the $45 hardcover edition. That also supports worldwide shipping.
The Kickstarter runs until May 7th. The PDF edition is estimated to be delivered in August, and the printed books in October.
