I don’t even knit, and yet Cosmic Vault‘s yarn skull whispered to me from its Etsy shelf. I imagine if you’re a knitter, then this macabre but handy device might be calling your name.

You can get the skull in a bone colour but also black, silver, gold, brass, orange, pink and other colours. I mean, if you’re going for a statement piece, then why do a half-measure?
The skull is about 10cm tall, 13cm wide and about 18cm deep so it should plenty of wool. It’s made from biodegradable PLA and 3d-printed.
Cosmic Vault gets rave reviews, and this skull will ship to most places, but it comes from Australia. Shipping might be more expensive than the skull itself.
Are you looking for inspiration for what you could knit once you have your skull yarn holder? Consider incorporating skull motifs directly into your projects using techniques like colourwork for hats and jumpers or intricate lace for shawls and scarves.
You could also lean into related anatomical or skeletal themes, knitting bone patterns onto gloves or using cables to suggest vertebrae on a scarf.

Alternatively, embrace a broader gothic aesthetic with cobweb lace designs, raven-themed accessories (for the Poe fans!), or even small knitted skull or skeleton amigurumi, perhaps using a palette of black, grey, deep reds or bone-white yarns to fully capture the vibe.
