Mongoose Publishing, the British company expertly shepherding the iconic Traveller RPG, has smashed Kickstarter goals on a campaign to fund a new three-part campaign.
The Singularity Campaign promises to blend cinematic action with narrative depth, putting characters at the heart of a major event in a major setting. The crowdfunder runs until May 17th, and you can see progress on the pitch page.
There’s a free download. Mongoose has made the first 50 pages of one of the books, the Singularity Sourcebook, online to preview.
The campaign will have four books. The Singularity Sourcebook, Singularity Act One: Sylean Dream and Singularity Acts Two and Three are the core rules. There’s a fourth book, the Singularity Companion, which is reserved for ‘Glass Councillor’ backers. In total, Mongoose will be producing around 600 pages.
The campaign’s plot starts when, deep in the black, aboard a derelict vessel trapped within an Imperial research station, a discovery is made that could alter the destiny of galaxies. The Naalir, a long-dormant, godlike alien intelligence – a computer mind far beyond anything known – awakens. It has a message, a plea for help directed at the PCs, the Travellers. Naalir speaks of a catastrophic future, a galactic cataclysm looming on the horizon… unless they can intervene and avert the events leading to ruin.
Players must decide whether they heed Naalir’s warning. Will they aid this powerful, enigmatic entity or stand against it? Choices in The Singularity Campaign won’t just ripple – they’ll send shockwaves from the opulent heart of the Imperium to its most distant, unexplored reaches.
Mongoose say this is a quest that spans the entirety of Charted Space, demanding courage, cunning, and perhaps, a redefinition of what it means to be human.

The first reward tier unlocks at £70, which gets the PDF editions of the core three books and any unlocked PDF stretch goals.
At £120, backers get the PDF and hardback editions of all three core books, plus the digital stretch goals.
The fourth book unlocks the £170 mark and the Glass Councillor tier. That level also adds the soundtrack CD and MP3 files for backers.
The final tier is £255, and print editions of The Third Imperium with all three of its core adventures are added as PDF and hardback editions to the loot.
Mongoose estimates the digital editions of The Singularity Campaign will be ready in October of this year. The hardbacks are due early next year, around January.
