Many of us geeks have been enjoying the Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remaster this week, and now fans have stumbled upon a most joyous discovery. It turns out the famous line which includes the voice actor asking for a retake in the original game, has been kept in for the 2025 remaster.
When Oblivion Remastered launched, Bethesda clarified that the game is a remaster and not a remake: “We never wanted to remake it – but remaster it – where the original game was there as you remember playing it, but seen through today’s technology.”
It seems they really did stick to their word by keeping this delightful and nostalgic double take voice acting error from the original 2006 release. Hilariously, the line is delivered by the Master Speechcraft trainer and Altmer (a race of High Elves) Tandilwe.
During the gameplay, Tandilwe offers players master Speechcraft training, which helps to increase skills such as influence and persuade. During one conversation about thieves, the actor fluffs her line and can be heard asking for a retake – which she then does.
Firstly, here’s the original in all its glory:
And here’s the remastered version, keeping the originally fluffed line that famously made it into the first game. We’re delighted by this – and so are fans, including this one below:
Also, it seems there are now over 100 mods available for Oblivion Remastered, with everything from armour, to weapons and HUG improvements. Pretty neat, and that’s despite Bethesda saying it won’t offer any official mod support.
So, it’s fair to say Oblivion Remastered is making a great impression so far. I’ve not heard anything to suggest otherwise, and this gem is a joy for fans. Thanks, Bethesda!
