Son of Oak Game Studio are racing towards $250,000 in pledges for Cairo:Otherscape on Kickstarter. There’s still nearly three weeks left to back the game.
Two books are being crowdfunded: Cario:Otherscape and Neuro:Otherscape and if you’re new to the cyberpunk TTRPG :Otherscape, you can pick up a copy in the campaign too.
If you’re curious, there is a free-to-download Cairo:Otherscape demo. That demo introduces the core rules, offers a quick adventure, some pre-made Cairo PCs, a character sheet and an effect sheet for cinematic action.
This book allows players and Game Masters to run “:Otherscape” adventures in an alternate future Cairo and Alexandria. This new Megacity is defined by a power struggle between factions, including CEOs who’ve allied with the Egyptian Pantheon for pharaonic control. Players will encounter Egyptian/Arabic rituals, relics, gods, and monsters within this mythic cyberpunk dystopia as they get drawn into the conflict.
Cairo will actually be Son of Oak’s first megacity campaign, and the books bring more than 100 new items. It shares a “first” with Tokyo:Otherscape in that the Egyptian theme was actually first equal in votes from the game’s player base.
Together these books will combine into the Cairo//Neuro Box Set, a formidable expansion pack for :Otherscape with all-new dice, tracking cards, character pregens, and MC screen!
Backers at $39 (about £30) will get both books in digital formats and all the digital stretch goals.
Those supporters who can pledge $49 get a physical edition of the setting book and digital editions of both books.
The next step up is $79, which gets backers the whole :Otherscape universe in PDFs. Nearly 200 gamers have taken this option, suggesting that Cairo will be growing the fanbase.
Physical copies of the core rulebook, Egypt’s setting book and digital copies of the Action Database, Neuro and Cairo unlock at $99.
The titular “Cairo//Neuro Box Set“, which is approaching 900 backers, includes dice and a GM screen, is the tier at $129.
Lastly, there’s a $279 pledge level and a $399. The first has the entire :Otherscape range in physical and PDF from. The $399 tier grants the status of “Mythic Collector” with the whole range, plus Son of Oak’s City of Mist Ultimate Set.
