May 1st is World Password Day, and Geek Native is getting lots of marketing-minded digital PR content thrust at us as VPNs, password managers and the like jostle for your attention.
I actually like the take from HYPR CEO Bojan Simic. I’ll share that later, but first, I wanted to share this joke password generator I made.
Please enjoy this hilariously bad fantasy password generator (or it’s supposed to be so bad it’s hilarious). Does it have a use? Er, perhaps just to shock someone into action if they see their actual password is also hilariously bad.
World Password Day
We're told that nearly half of business organisations have now experienced some cybersecurity breach. These aren't all password-based, of course, you can't blame the password generator, but HYPR say that the average cost is $2.5 million if you add the brand damage. I certainly stopped using LastPass out of concern for their brand and response.

HYPR's release says;
These vulnerabilities are amplified by the rapid rise of generative AI threats, with 40% of organizations encountering a GenAI-related security incident and a staggering 95% reporting deepfake attacks. Traditional methods, such as passwords and legacy multi-factor authentication (MFA), cannot combat these sophisticated threats. Yet, organizations continue to rely on outdated practices, exposing themselves to escalating risks.
The good news? We are entering The Identity Renaissance. For the first time, passwordless, phishing-resistant authentication methods, such as FIDO passkeys, are gaining significant traction. Nearly half (46%) of organizations have adopted these innovative solutions and are poised to become the gold standard in authentication by 2027. This marks a profound shift in how we approach security, moving beyond reactive measures and embracing proactive, user-friendly, and resilient solutions.
