Dark Horse Comics, in a new licensing agreement with Wizards of the Coast, is set to launch a new Dungeons & Dragons comic miniseries this winter. Titled Dungeons and Dragons: The Fallbacks, the four-issue series will introduce a band of misfit adventurers to the world of comics.

The new series, slated for an October 2025 debut, will be penned by acclaimed writer Greg Pak, with art by a team that includes Wilton Santos on pencils, Edvan Alves on inks, Raul Angulo on colours, and Nate Piekos on letters.
“The Fallbacks” are a motley crew of adventurers consisting of Tess, an elven rogue; Anson, a human fighter; Lark, a tiefling bard; Baldric, a dwarven cleric; and their unusual companion, an otyugh named Uggie.
This isn’t the first appearance for the adventuring party. The group was first introduced in the novel Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks: Bound for Ruin, published by Random House. A second novel featuring the group, Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks: Dealing with Dragons, is scheduled for release in July 2025. Furthermore, artwork depicting “The Fallbacks” has been featured in the new 2024 Dungeons & Dragons Core Rulebooks, solidifying their place in the current landscape of the popular roleplaying game.
The comic series aims to capture the humour, heart, and high-stakes adventure that Dungeons & Dragons is known for, following the less-than-legendary exploits of this endearing group of heroes. A preview of the first issue was recently shared by GameRant, offering a glimpse into the misadventures that await.
Dark Horse is now owned by the Embracer Group, which owns rival TTRPG publisher Edge Studio.
